Dear Friends,

Ephesians 6:10-12 says:

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”

As I write my letter to you, I’m listening to a song crying out for more of God’s presence today. It is touching my heart as I sing and pray for our sisters in West and Central Africa and realize how much more we need God’s presence and power in our lives when we are engaging in spiritual battle.

Every day there are things happening around us that we can’t see with our eyes but are very real in the spiritual realm. I am talking about what Paul refers to in the verses above from Ephesians. We are in the middle of a spiritual battle.

This month as we gather to pray, let us put on the armor of God so we can stand against the enemy’s schemes.

For Christians, life is a spiritual battle. There is an enemy at work in this world who does not want us to live for Jesus. There is an enemy who does not want us praying for our sisters around the world. But Jesus came to overcome the powers of the dark world, and the power in us is greater than any power in the world (1 John 4:4).

So, lift your voices, my friends, and stand firm in your faith, believing that your prayers are being heard by the almighty God of the universe. May we pray with the mighty power of God this month. He is our strength and refuge and a very present help when we are in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

In Him our hearts rejoice,
